What does the Article mean in plain language?
A five-year election treats qualifying hedge-related currency results as Excluded Equity Gains or Losses. All three conditions must hold: the hedge covers currency risk on a non-portfolio ownership interest, the result is recognised in consolidated Other Comprehensive Income, and the hedge is effective under the accounting standard used. The rule does not cover every currency difference or derivative. Link the instrument to the hedged interest and retain the accounting and effectiveness evidence.

Does NBR guidance replace the Regulations?
No. Guidance explains application and supports procedures and examples, but current legislation and decisions prevail in case of inconsistency.
