Gold, silver and platinum for investment are zero-rated where purity is at least 99%, the metal is tradeable on the global bullion market and a certificate is issued by Bahrain's competent examination body. The first Supply after extraction for trading is also zero-rated.
Bullion dealers, banks, jewellers, importers, refiners and investors.
Purity alone is insufficient. Investment purpose, global bullion tradability and the certificate also matter. High-purity jewellery is not automatically investment bullion.

Purity does not decide alone
A 99.5% gold bar tradeable on the global bullion market with the required certificate meets the stated tests. Jewellery of the same purity does not qualify merely because of purity if investment purpose, tradability and certification are absent.
